Spring 2021

In addition to our proprietary platforms  NerveSim® and BrainSim®, we are excited to announce the expansion of our SimLab Services: advanced neuronal monoculture and co-culture models. Our team of neuroscientists and biomedical engineers use state-of-the-art cell culture methods to answer your hypotheses faster. In addition to the advanced co-culture and monoculture models listed, microelectrode array and high-content imaging are available.

Our Expanded Portfolio

Our SimLab Services contain 5 assays with a range of applications including peripheral neurotoxicity, ALS pathology, and motor neurotoxicity. These assays can also be customized to your company’s specific needs.

  • Peripheral Neurotoxicity Assay with Schwann Cells (Human)
Our human peripheral neuropathy assay uses primary human Schwann Cells and iPSC-derived peripheral neurons to recapitulate peripheral neuropathy in vitro. Assays available include high content-imaging and microelectrode array based readouts. The development of this assay was presented at Society of Toxicology’s Annual Meeting in 2020 and can be viewed here. Learn more about the creation of this assay and the readouts when Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) were tested in this case study.
  • Peripheral Neurotoxicity Assay with Microglia (Rat)
Our rat peripheral neurotoxicity assay utilizes a co-culture of primary dorsal root ganglion and microglia to recapitulate peripheral immuno-neurotoxicity in vitro. The addition of microglia enables a more comprehensive understanding of CNS neurotoxicity. Assays available include high content-imaging and microelectrode array based readouts.
  • Motor Neurotoxicity Assay (Human)
Human iPSC-derived motor neurons are cultured to create a motor neuron-specific monoculture system. Assays available include neurite outgrowth high content-imaging and microelectrode array based readouts.
  • ALS Assay with SOD1 Patient-Derived Motor Neurons and Astrocytes (Human)
Our ALS assay utilizes SOD1 patient-derived motor neurons and astrocytes to examine interactions within the co-culture system related to ALS pathology. Traditional animal model studies have proven to be ineffective for drug developers targeting ALS. By using a human patient-derived cell line, we are able to attain more accurate results, faster. Assays include high content imaging, both neurite outgrowth and protein inclusion, as well as microelectrode array readouts (beta).
  • Custom Disease Models
Our monoculture and co-culture assays can be customized to meet your company’s specific needs, including neurological assays using patient-derived cell lines.
